The Queensway Hall

The Drama Group was founded in the summer of 1992 by a few ex-members of the long-established and well-respected Lynwood Players which had been disbanded a few months earlier due to insurmountable difficulties at that time...

The name “Phoenix” was chosen for the group to indicate that the new group had risen from the ashes of the old and our first production was “Look Who’s Talking” by Derek Benfield in April 1993.  This was performed at The Queensway Hall, Petts Wood Methodist Church and that venue has become our permanent home for our two full length productions in the spring and autumn of each year.

Additionally, we hold a Patrons Evening mid-summer at which members and Patrons are invited to bring friends for a supper and evening of entertainment followed by a light-hearted quiz.  The entertainment provided is usually a one act play and we especially encourage new members to take part in this to gain experience.  It is also an opportunity for any member to try their hand at producing or any other aspect for the first time.

Our productions have included comedies, farces, dramas, thrillers and the classics.  For such a small society and from such modest beginnings we have built up an impressive list of patrons and supporters.  We have been fortunate in that our last few productions have sold out very quickly.

We are a happy, enthusiastic group, although still small in number and welcome new members of any age and ability, whether on stage, working at the all-important back-stage tasks or socially.
